Your guide to getting into basketball
Slam dunk your way to fitness. Basketball is a fast, exciting team sport that will get you running, dribbling and pivoting across the court.
Each game lasts around 40 minutes, giving you plenty of time to build up a sweat and get a good cardio workout. So what’s stopping you? Get out there and shoot some hoops.
Whack a hoop up at home. Or grab a ball and head down to one of the thousands of outdoor courts you can use for free. You can play with a group of mates, or take time on your own to perfect your free throws.
Find a club
With up to 12 people in a team (five playing at any one time), it’s a great way to meet new people and build your team-working skills.
Anyone can play
You don’t have to be 7ft tall. Walking basketball is a great option if you’re after a low-impact cardio exercise. All the excitement and competition of regular basketball, and it’s loads of fun.
