How to become an athletics volunteer

Athletics is built on the efforts and expertise of volunteers, in particular those who support athletics and running clubs.

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer. But by giving a couple of hours of your time, you could be invaluable for the development of athletics.

You do not need previous experience to get involved with your local athletics or running club/group. All you need is a smile and enthusiasm.

Help others achieve their personal best

If you are interesting in beginning your coaching journey and giving something back to the sport, your first step is to attend a coaching course.  If you're in England, take a look at the England Athletics website to help you find the right course.

Scottish Athletics and Welsh Athletics also has coaching information.

Become an official

Becoming an official is a great way to enjoy athletics from a different perspective. It’s also a great opportunity to get outdoors, meet new friends and get closer to the action.

Anyone can learn to officiate. Find information on officiating courses in England, Scotland and Wales.
